Hadi Soua’an Al-Somaily
After
winning the first Saudi silver medal in the Olympics in the 400 meters
hurdles in Sydney in 2000, and after the end of my sports career, I was
surprised with three things that needed to be addressed: (my simple
education, my modest employment, my limited income) as well as the
development of my career and professional abilities. I enrolled into
Arab Open University as it was known for its flexibility and focus on
the English language that I wanted to improve. Unfortunately, my first
experience with the university failed because I did not put education
among my priorities at the time. But after the encouragement of Dr.
Osama Al-Zaid and my love of challenges, I reenrolled and started my
experience again, and in all seriousness, in addition to improving my
English, my university degree opened new horizons for me in my career
life.
